About Us
Welcome to the Melbourne Festival of Puppetry 2026!
The first festival was held in partnership with Lemony S Puppet Theatre and La Mama Theatre during 2015. Since its inception, it has run (almost) every two years and has hosted over 350 artists from across Australia as well as international artists from Aotearoa New Zealand, UK, Cambodia and the Philippines.
The festival has been nominated for ‘Curatorial Contribution’ at the Green Room Awards as well as individual shows being nominated and awarded every festival for outstanding theatrical works for children and adults.
The 2023 festival was our biggest yet - until this year!
The 2026 festival has expanded across the Naarm/City of Melbourne to include Arts Centre Melbourne, ACMI and the Motley Wherehaus as well as returning to our beloved La Mama and the community of Carlton.
With workshops, masterclasses, shows for adults and kids, roving performances and street shows, there really is something for everyone.
See you there!
